Love's Labour's Lost- the plot
King Ferdinand of Navarre and the three lords Berowne, Dumain and Longaville enjoy their lifes as bachelors and the fact that their fans all over the world admire them.
One day, King Ferdinand realises that this is no longer enough and that he wants to be renowned for more than just being the King of Navarre. So he and his lords come up with a plan which will make his court a little Academe, still and contemplative in living art.
Their plan involves three years of intensive study with no contact whatsoever to any woman, except their teacher.
All’s well, so far.
It’s just a shame that right after having sworn the oath they realise that the Princess of France and her lady companions Rosaline, Maria and Katharine will arrive in Navarre very soon to negotiate a certain matter with the King.Quickly the King decides to make an exception and receive the Princess and her followers if need be.
Meanwhile the oath causes the first problems amongst the other courtiers. The fantastical Spaniard Don Armado and the court jester Costard have a dispute about the beautiful country maid Jaquenetta and the fans of the King and the lords are not impressed either.
Only the court’s schoolmaster Holofernia and the curate Sir Nathaniel are very pleased with the King’s and the lords’ intentions.
How will the lords react when they meet the ladies and what else will happen at the court? This remains to be seen.
Verlorene Liebesmüh - das Stück
König Ferdinand von Navarre und die drei Lords Berowne, Dumain und Longaville genießen ihr Leben und werden von ihren Fans überall auf der Welt bewundert und geliebt.
Bis König Ferdinand eines Tages beschließt, dass ihm das so nicht mehr reicht und er nun auf andere Weise ewigen Ruhm erlangen möchte. Deshalb entwirft er mit seinen Lords einen Plan, mit dem sein Hof als „Bildungsakademie“ in die Geschichte eingehen soll.
Von nun an wird drei Jahre lange nur studiert und dabei ist jeglicher Kontakt zu Frauen verboten.
Soweit, so gut.
Zu dumm nur, dass sich ausgerechnet zu Beginn dieses Schwures die Prinzessin von Frankreich mit ihren Begleiterinnen Rosaline, Maria und Katharine beim König angekündigt hat. Eilig wird beschlossen eine Ausnahme zu machen und die Prinzessin und ihr Gefolge notwendiger Weise zu empfangen.
Unterdessen verursacht der Schwur beim Hofstaat des Königs bereits die ersten Probleme. Der fantastische Spanier Don Armada und der Hofnarr Costard streiten sich um die schöne Jaquenetta und auch die Fans des Königs und der Lords sind alles andere als begeistert.
Nur die Schulmeisterin Holofernia und der Pastor Sir Nathaniel sind von dem Vorhaben der Herren äußerst angetan.
Wie die Begegnung der Lords mit den Ladies ausgeht und was sonst noch so alles passiert, das bleibt abzuwarten.
